CAE Southwest Regional Teaching Exchange

Presented by CAE Southwest Regional Teaching Exchange Coordinator, Rica French (MiraCosta College)

CAE Regional Teaching Exchanges are designed to foster a sense of community amongst geographically linked current and future Astro 101 instructors. We at CAE don’t want you to feel isolated, and we don’t want you to have to wait to attend (or re-attend) a CAE Tier I workshop to continue your professional development. We have regional experts from the broader CAE community ready, willing, and able to provide the opportunity for you to meet your neighbors, expand your instructional repertoire, and share your own expertise.
So grab your colleagues—instructors, graduate students, and postdocs, alike—and join the Exchange!

For this Exchange, whether you have been to a CAE Tier I Teaching Excellence Workshop or not, everyone is welcome. Discussions range from active engagement strategies to availability of research-validated curricula, online vs. on-ground, implementation issues, classroom management techniques, and more.

Have you seen the materials and Lecture Tutorials on detecting exoplanets using gravitational microlensing and transits? How about the radio astronomy curriculum and Tutorial? Want to talk about teaching in a flipped classroom environment? What else will help you and your students achieve your learning goals? Your needs guide our discussions. Please join us!

We expect to provide light morning refreshments and a modest lunch."
